Have you found yourself in a dark place? Jacklyn Dee talks openly about her fearful and uncertain experience of being by herself in the dark. Her journey helped her discover the hole in her heart, which brought her full circle realizing who she really was. She is now living each day happily and freely.

Darkness somehow makes it easier for me to see things clearly.  It makes me take my time, clears the lens through which I can see, and serves as a reminder to me of how precious my time on earth is and how unknown tomorrow may be.

With this gift of time in our lives, what will we do?

I’ve lost a lot of people in my life,  a baby boy, family members, friends, and community.  While quietly sitting by myself in the dark, I was able to think and reflect on my life. I become aware of a void in my heart a result of hiding and holding back in life.

Isolation made it easier for me to examine my life truthfully and recognize the ways in which I am restraining myself.  In lieu of trust and freedom, I have given fear and doubt mental room to wander.  I've sat alone for far too long, listening to and believing the whispers of fear and doubt.

Being alone in the dark made me think of the light I had within me that was waiting to be rekindled.  I wanted desperately to fulfill a desire of more passion from my life.  According to Gods’s word, a lamp is meant to be placed on a stand to illuminate everything around it. (Matthew 5:15).  I took a courageous stand and ignited this fire within me, giving myself the freedom of time and with no limit on how much money I can make to live my life to the fullest.

Why do we need to shine our light?

We are the LIGHT OF THE WORLD, according to God's word.  We occasionally fail to live out our life's purpose and choose to hide the light that God has placed inside us, just like I did in my periods of darkness and aloneness.  I don't want to add darkness to this world.  Through my life, I want to be a reflection of the light of God so others may see Jesus in me.

Let’s make the decision today to allow God’s light to shine brightly through our words and actions.  May we always remember that we were created with a purpose and for a reason by fulfilling our deepest, most burning desire for more in our life.

Our purpose in life is love God and love others with God.  We are commanded to be a light in the dark.  Let God's word, which is true  be our compass as we live authentically.  Be brave and shine bright as we face our fears and doubts in order to recognize the gift of this day and use it to illuminate both our own hearts and those of people throughout the world.

You are meant is to shine!

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Jesus Christ.
